Isaan includes many provinces and/or cities, like
- Amnat Charoen, located in the Mekong valley, with two other rivers, the Lam Sae Bok and Lam Sae Bai.
- Buriram is close to Khorat province and famous for some Khmer temples, like Phanom Rung.
- Chaiyaphum, The province just North of Khorat with some mountain areas.
- Kalasin famous for it's dinausors, not very far from Roiet.
- Khon Kaen is located in the heart of the Khorat Plateau, with the Chi river. It's also one of the biggest cities in Isaan with Korat and Udon.
- Loei, famous for Phu Ka Dung, a mountain with some nice scenery.
- Maha Sarakham, near Khon Kaen and Roiet. Mostly covered with rice fields and has a big university in the city.
- Mukdahan, also located in the Mekong valley
- Nakhon Phanom, near the Mekong river with a beautiful and famous temple.
- Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) called the gate of Isaan. Khao Yai a famous national park is located inside this province.
- Nong Khai, a province where you can directly go to Laos and visit Vientiane.
- Nong Bua Lamphu is located in the heart of the Khorat Plateau, just North of Khon Kaen. It is also a one of the coolest places in Thailand.
- Roiet, also called 101 or L.A. (Thai joke). In the centre of this city, you will find the peaceful Bung Phalang Chai. A nice park with a lake.
- Sakon Nakhon located at the edge of the 32-square-kitometre Nong Han Lake (Thailand's largest natural lake).
- Sisaket (spelled Srisaket or Sisaket) is located in the valley of the Mun river, a tributary of the Mekong.
- Surin, also called the elephant capital of Thailand. The round up elephant festival is normally each November.
- Ubon Ratchatani At Khong Chiam the Mun river, the biggest river of the Khorat Plateau, in the Emerald Triangle.
- Udon Thani (sometimes Udon) between Khon Kaen and Nong Khai attracts a lot of foreigners in Isarn. It's also a very big city.
- Yasothon is between Roiet and Sisaket. An area mostly covered with rice fields.
